Power in Rhythm

Kevin Leroy Grant is a contemporary classical composer living in Cleveland, Ohio. Originally from South Florida, his musical inspirations include post-minimalism and the lineage of African American-pioneered genres such as disco, hip-hop, and electronic dance music. His music can be best described as being “rhythmically active” and “bombastic,” often featuring shifting time signatures and lively tempo markings. He holds a M.M. in Music Composition from UNC Greensboro and B.M. in Music Composition from the University of Florida. Works by the composer have been premiered by the United States Air Force Ceremonial Brass, University of Florida Symphonic Band, UNC Greensboro Concert Band, Hillsborough All-County Orchestra, and the multi-award winning percussionist Derris Lee.
